Prof. St. John's research areas include random structures and algorithms and computational biology. She is interested in the properties of random structures, such as random graphs or random bit strings. She also works on algorithmic questions in computational biology, with particular focus on efficiently computing, comparing, and visualizing evolutionary histories, or phylogenies.
