Strebel points

This paper shows that the set of Strebel points is dense in the Teichmuller space and that both the set of all Strebel differentials and its complement are dense in the space of integrable holomorphic quadratic differentials..  Furthermore, using the Grotzsch-type inequalities, we show that the distance to the basepoint is differentiable at all Strebel points, and that the derivative of this distance function is continuous.
