Asymptotic geometry of infinite groups, an introduction

Groups are a fundamental object which occur throughout mathematics. Although traditionally these objects arise "algebraically," we will describe a way of thinking about them "geometrically." We will provide an introduction to this geometric point of view and some of its applications. This talk will be accessible to a broad audience.
